CHANDIGARH: Harshima Singla from Ambala made the city proud by garnering state rank in international Olympiad awards which was held recently in Delhi. Harshima is a student of class XI in SA Jain Senior Model School.

It was organized by non profit organization Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF).

SOF is the world's biggest organizer of Olympiad exams and has been conducting Olympiads since the past 18 years.

About 40 lakh students from over 31,500 schools in India and the world took part in the event. The Olympiad was organized by non-profit organization Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF), which is the world's biggest organizer of Olympiad exams and have been conducting Olympiads for the past 18 years. SOF spends over Rs10 crore annually towards awards, scholarships and felicitations of winners and participants.

Mahabir Singh, the founder and executive director of SOF, said around 24,000 students were awarded for achieving top ranks. In addition, close to 6 lakh students were awarded "Medals of Excellence".

SOF aims to identify, motivate and reward talent and performance at the International level, state level and school level. It attempts to develop a spirit of competitiveness among students and to prepare them to face competition beyond their school level. Each participating student's performance is analyzed and a school, city, state and international rank awarded, to enable the student know her/his level of preparedness and readiness to face competition.
