LUCKNOW: Here comes the much-awaited prolonged stay of UP in charge Amit Shah in Lucknow. Beginning from Tuesday, Shah would be staying in the state capital for three days until January 9, said Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Vijay Bahadur Pathak. The visit comes at a time when the state BJP unit is leaving no stone unturned to hype Modi's statewide rally scheduled on March 2 in Lucknow. With over a month left for the rally, the brouhaha over finalisation of the rally ground by the BJP state unit, it seems, is nothing but a testimony to the fact that it's a bid to create more of a flutter than anything else.

Adding to it, the state unit has started claiming that the March 2 rally would see a crowd exceeding 10 lakh in the state capital. To ensure smooth transportation of rally participants, the state unit has requested booking of 22 trains.

A letter each has been sent to the chairman of the Railway Board and concerned DRMs requesting them to book 22 trains for the rally crowd, said state BJP chief Laxmikant Bajpayi.

Coming back to the rally ground, the state unit along with UP in charge Amit Shah after inspecting the Ramabai Rally Maidan, which can accommodate around 5 lakh people, and Kanshiram Smriti Upvan that has been hosting Lucknow Mahotsava, have decided to go for the latter. The inspection was done about a week back.

After coming to Lucknow on Tuesday, Shah is expected to take stock of the rally preparation. The three days visit of Shah to Lucknow comes as a the relief of the party workers, who were intrigued by his appearance only between one rally and another.

But party workers are now hoping that during the three-day stay in Lucknow, Shah would give party workers some time to express their woes.

After national BJP chief Rajnath Singh's announcement that names of Lok Sabha candidates would be declared after January 15, Shah's visit to Lucknow is also being seen as last-minute revision of candidates. Shah is expected to hold meeting with state unit general secretaries, morcha office-bearers and senior BJP leaders during his stay.
