NEW DELHI: As many as 43 FIRs have so far been lodged against different political parties in the capital for violation of the model code of conduct.

"Eighteen FIRs have been registered against Aam Aadmi Party and 12 against BJP for violation of the poll code. Eight and three FIRs have been registered against Congress and BSP, respectively, till Wednesday," the chief electoral officer's office said in a statement on Thursday.

The model code of conduct for the February 7 Delhi assembly elections came into force on January 13.

Meanwhile, the CEO's office said six nomination papers were filed from as many seats on the second day of filing of nomination on Thursday.

Of the six candidates, two were independent. Rakesh of Gareeb Aadmi Party filed his nomination from Trilokpuri. Ram Babu, a candidate of Rashtriya Bahujan Hitay, filed his papers from Bawana. Independent candidates-Preeti and Manager Chaurasia- filed their nominations from Shahdara and Burari seats, respectively.

The CEO's office said as many as 2,644 persons have been booked so far. As preventive measures, 27 licensed arms have been deposited and one unlicensed arm and four cartridges have been seized so far.

Taking action against illegal hoardings, 914 such hoardings have been removed from public property so far. Till date, 23 bottles of IMFL, 66 bottles of country liquor and 72 beer bottles have been seized. pti
