JAIPUR: There was no respite from the dense fog in some districts in state as it continued to affect the air, road and rail traffic. Though rest of the state had mainly clear sky, but in some of the districts in western Rajasthan dense fog was witnessed. Six persons, including five of a family, were killed and four others injured when an SUV carrying them rammed into a truck in Pali district.

According to police, the incident took place near Icchapur Balaji temple situated on Sojat road when the victims were on their way to Pushkar town in Ajmer from Jalore district, said a senior police officer. "Prima facie the reason behind the accident was poor visibility in the wee hours due to which the driver lost control and rammed into the truck moving ahead," said a senior police officer.

Four injured women are being treated at the hospital, he said.

People in the city woke up to a chilly morning as a minimum temperature was 7.6 degree Celsius. Though no fog was reported in Jaipur during early morning hours, highways connecting Jaipur to Agra, Jodhpur and Delhi witnessed fog affecting road traffic.

Just four early morning trains got affected and the flights movement was smooth by and large.

Due to a mainly clear sky the mercury took an upward swing in the afternoon as a maximum temperature of 23.9 degree Celsius, almost two degrees above the normal was recorded.

Jaipur Met office further said that in the next couple of days cloudy condition and dense fog are likely to prevail in almost every part of the state. "It appears that the western disturbances are underway due to which there is a possibility of mild shower and fog at many parts of the state," said an Met officer.

Mount Abu in hills and Churu in plains remained coldest in the state where a maximum temperature of 1.0 degree Celsius was recorded. These two places were followed by Udaipur where a minimum temperature of 4.2 degree Celsius was recorded. Churu recorded 4.7, Chittorgarh 5.3, Sriganganagar 5.8, Pilani 6.3, Bikaner 7.4, Kota 8.1, Jodhpur 9.3, Ajmer 9.7, Jaisalmer 10.0 and a minimum temperature of 10.2 degree Celsius was recorded.
