JAIPUR: The Rajasthan High Court on Monday issued notices to principal secretary, transport and commissioner, transport over the use of unregistered vehicles.

A division bench of Justice Ajay Rastogi and Justice Prakash Gupta issued the notices on a PIL moved by the truck operators union. The petition said in the case of accidents involving unregistered vehicles like 'Jugad', e-rickshaw etc, it is not possible to file FIRs and in accident claims as these vehicles are plying illegal.

The petitioner further argued that the transport department, often lets off overloaded vehicles after imposing a penalty. As per court order, they were supposed to offload the excess goods but it is seldom complied with.

Finally, the tractor- trolleys are allowed only for agriculture purposes but these vehicles are also being used for transportation of goods. These misuses are adversely affecting the truck operators. Tractor- trolleys plying without even reflectors are one of the causes of accidents on highways.
