HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has ssued orders to impart paramedical training to over one lakh registered medical practitioners private medical practi ioners in Telangana.
The government order (GO) no 428 issued by principal secretary health) Suresh Chanda specifies that RMPs PMPs shall undergo community paramedic raining for a period of one year and have to pass the examination conducted by Telangana State Paramedical Board. The success ful candidates will be awarded community paramedic certificates.

For its implementation, the government set up an eight-member committee comprising presidentsecretary of Telangana R M P - P M P welfare association, besides releasing Rs 4.6 lakh to run the training programmes in all the 10 Telangana districts.

However, the move has drawn flak with Medical Council of India (MCI) member Dr K Ramesh Reddy questioning the credibility of RMPs and PMPs.

"On what basis is the government claiming that they are `registered medical practitioners private medical prac titioners' is difficult to un derstand. Have these so called RMPsPMPs registered with MCI or state medical council or with Central Council of Indian Medicine or with state council of Indian medicine, the government should spell it out," he said, while dubbing it a move to dilute the quality of medical profession in the state.
