JAIPUR: Three-fourth of registered voters in the state came out to elect a new government on Sunday.In revised igures of polling percentage released by Election Commission (EC) on Monday , Rajasthan saw a voting turnout of 75.20%, the highest ever in the history of the state.

Based on the reports from observers and returning officers , EC is likely to order repolling in some booths of six to eight constituencies. Voting will again be conducted at Papurna village in Khetri in Jhunjhunu after incident of boothcapturing.

"We are expecting re-polling in nearly 6 to 8 places. Most of them are purely on technical grounds and not because of any untoward incidents," said Ashok Jain , chief electoral officer. Raising the numbers from 73% to 75%, the EC is expecting a further increase of half percent as postal votes are yet to be added. Once examination of voters list is completed , the EC will announce the final figure. "The data which was given yesterday was based on preliminary information received from observers and returning officers.Once EVMs are being deposited and electorallists are properly examined , the percentageof polling in the state will be more than 75%," said an ECofficial.

Among the states , Jaisalmer recorded the highest percentage with final figures closing at 85.26%. It was closely followedby Hanumangarh and Ganganagar whichhad 84.93 % and 83.93 % polling on December 1. Among the least polling district , Pali witnessed minimum 66.2% polling. Among constituencies , Sangaria in Hanumangarh district lead the tally with a whopping turnout of 87.30%. Karanpur (Sriganganagar ) was the second highest with 86.46% and Tijara (Alwar ) at third in polling percent with 86.30%.
