AHMEDABAD: Gandhinagar resident Pruthvesh Gajera's desperate attempt to recover his natural hair through homeopathy did not yield any result and he remained bald as before.

Gajera sued the clinic that had guaranteed return of thick natural hair on his head. The consumer court too felt that the promise was false and the treatment was not given by qualified doctors. Hence it ordered the clinic to return part of the fees paid by Gajera and also ordered a little compensation for the consumer's obvious agony.

Gajera read an advertisement put out by Tara Homeopathic Clinic which guaranteed bald people growth of natural hair through its homeopathy medicine and oil. Gajera paid Rs 24,000 for the four-month treatment %and attended sessions regularly. He was treated by different doctors in 2013.

Much time passed and Gajera realized that the medicine had not worked on him and that he was not growing the promised thick natural hair. The clinic had even given him a guarantee card that said that new natural hair would grow and the patient would soon lose his baldness.

Gajera sued the clinic at the Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum, Ahmedabad (additional). The court sought explanation from the clinic, but nobody turned up. Finally, after hearing the case and perusing the documents that Gajera had supplied, the consumer court concluded that the clinics are run without qualified doctors and the medicine had failed to grow natural hair. It asked the clinic to return the fees besides compensation of Rs 5,000.

In another case similar to this, a student of Anklav in Anand district sued a company selling its medicines for fitness and got his money back. Twenty-year old Ranjitsinh Padhiyar purchased Ayurveda tablets from one Television Consumer Product Pvt Ltd to put on weight because he was very thin and underweight. After taking medicine, he did not put on extra weight nor did it help in building muscles after one month's treatment. Anand's consumer court has asked the company to return Rs 9,250 to Padhiyar for the failed treatment.
