THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The real estate workers union (STU) has demanded the government to cancel the 50% increase in land fair value in the state.

Addressing a news conference, the union general secretary Sidique Cheriyeri said the union had kept the government informed about its various demands for the development of the real estate sector, but most of the demands still remain unaddressed.

According to the union, fair value revision should be made scientific. The government should form committees headed by tahsildars in each taluk for the revision of fair value of land. The government decision that made pan card mandatory for registering documents above the value of Rs five lakh should be increased to at least Rs 25 lakh.

In protest against the government apathy towards its demands, the union would take a march to secretariat on June 21. Muslim League general secretary K P Majeed would inaugurate the protest dharna, the union leaders said.
