Kolkata: Leading wealth fund GIC Singapore has agreed to evaluate Bengal projects and there could soon be some positive outcome in this regard, commerce and industries ministers Amit Mitra said on Monday after a meeting with GIC officials in Singapore.

The minister is part of a delegation headed by chief minister Mamata Banerjee currently in Singapore to attract investments. "The meeting with GIC was extremely positive. We are hopeful of some major announcement in the course of the next few days," he said.

Mitra, chief secretary Sanjay Mitra and WBIDC representatives met top GIC officials led by COO and president of GIC Real Estate fund Goh Kok Haut. Representative of companies from the state included Krush Grant of ITC.

Meanwhile, Mamata paid tribute at INA memorial during the day. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose had laid the foundation stone on July 8, 1945, a few months before Singapore was recaptured by the British.
