PUNE: The Symbiosis Foundation in Pune on Tuesday signed memoradums of understanding (MoUs) with leading companies including Reliance Capital, MAN Trucks, HDFC Bank and Future Group for its upcoming University of Applied Sciences (UAS) at Indore.

The Symbiosis UAS will be India's first of its kind residential skill development university and will go functional from year 2016. The university will provide skill based degree programmes in line with the industry needs in sectors ranging from construction to manufacturing, retail, banking, finance and information technology (IT).

The MoUs with the companies will facilitate skill based on job training to students. The new tie ups were formalized at a function presided over by Symbiosis founder head S B Mujumdar.

Foundation vice-president Swati Mujumdar signed the MoUs on behalf of the Symbiosis while MAN Trucks CEO and MD Jagadish Bhat, Reliance Capital chief people officer Pushkar Singh Kataria, HDFC Bank senior vice president Rakesh Kumar RElan and Future Group's head for retail excellence Punitha Gibson signed the MoUs on behalf of their respective companies.

The Symbiosis campus at Indore is spread over 30 acre. A state of the art infrastructure built over 10,000 sq ft area comprising of academic block, hostels, mess, labs etc. will come up in phase I of construction. It will also have an industrial workshop and center of excellence equipped with high end machinery, tools and simulation based training kits to impart skills to students. An industrial R&D park has also been planned.
