JAIPUR: The bodies of a 23-year-old youth and a 30-year-old woman who were into a relationship were found at two different places near their houses in Jhunjhunu's Gothda village on Monday. According to the police, the villagers spotted the woman's body with her throat slit in a waste dumping ground, while the youth's body was found hanging from the ceiling of an abandoned makeshift house.

The woman, Sushila Devi (30), had separated from her husband a few years ago and was staying at her parents' house. She developed a relationship with Maniram Meghwal as they both worked as construction workers at the same site. The police suspect that both were murdered. However, they didn't confirm if it could be a case of honour killings.

According to the police, Sushila had left her home for work at around 8 am on Sunday and didn't return till late evening. "The worried family members started a search for her. However, they couldn't find her. They approached the police and lodged a complaint," said the officer.

The officer added that Sushila's body was spotted in a waste dumping ground, nearly 200 metres from her home. "It seems that her throat was slit. Her slippers were found lying nearby," said the officer.

A police team reached the spot and took the body to a hospital mortuary. She was identified on the basis of the missing complaint filed earlier. "While we were trying to identify her, we got another call. Someone spotted the body of a youth hanging in a makeshift home. The place was abandoned, so it was quite surprising how he was taken there," said the officer.

"We came to know that both were into a relationship for a long time. Family members of both the victims have registered FIRs. We have conducted postmortem and handed over bodies to family members," said the officer.

The police are still clueless about who have committed the murder, but said that the murders being honour killings was unlikely. "They were into a relationship for a long time and everybody knew about it. Some other clues suggest that the woman's murder was not committed by any family member. Further investigation is on," said the officer.
